The mere thought of delicious
food makes me forget about all the promises i made myself a while ago regarding
how i'am not going to hog on "Outside" Food until and unless it's
like really really necessary or i don't have a choice or something. And trust
me.. Ghar ka daal chaawal is anytime the perfect excuse to break all promises!!
I mean come on.. you have to admit that the only times you miss Home cooked
food is When you don't live with your parents, or when your on a vacation ( in
my case i am sure i won't miss them even under these circumstances ) For me the
best way to judge a food by its taste is exploring new places and new
cuisines.. For that you require two things.. A very rich Father if your still
not working, OR a very rich friend who will be ready to split bills with you..
I have a stingy father so i always choose the latter :P
I was exposed to this variety of
cuisines not until very recently when i found my subject of interest in food.
The only thing i used to do in my spare time was watch cooking channels and
TLC.. And i was never stopped because i would try out a few dishes myself and
serve it to mom who later thought "beti badi hogayi hai" and
melodramatic indian family drama like shit.. I've been to mexican,
italian, and authentic mumbaiyaa restaurants and the best part about them is
they try inculcating a little bit of the country's culture in their food.. Its
hard to find authentic restaurants where you will not find a typical "fish
and chips" or "onion rings" in the menu.. That itself gives a
feeling of how serious the restaurant is about their food.. But I think
i'll hardly ever get a chance to taste authentic food atleast here in mumbai
because every damn dish has that indian tadka in it which i can for once slap
the chef for not putting in.. If Chinese serve their dish bland.. gimme a bland
dish i don't mind.. If the mexican add 200kg's of chilli in their food.. Bring
it on.. I'm anyways not the sugarcandy girl...for once don't mix globalization
with gastronomy.. Its not rocket science!
Food is something i cannot
imagine my life without.. I have abused/ fought/ Drama-oed with every person
who refuses to join me in having amazing food.. And yes i believe sharing food
is cute and all but then if its something which is in really less in quantity
and you have a friend with a belly of the size of the entire pacific ocean..
then trust me the best way is to NOT make eye contact and finish your plate
before he does :p It's always necessary that you choose the correct place to
eat depending on how much hungry you are.. Its foolish to visit 5 spice alone..
Its foolish to go to Bombay Blue's with a huge group and ordering one plate of
cheese corn balls.. ( They need to know how much i hate them for their
quantity) And you definitely should not take a jain friend to a chicken
restaurant :p *Just saying* You know the different kitchen different plates
drama ;)
I blogged about this because at
the moment i am starving like a pig, I will hog on food like a pig the moment i
post this, i will enjoy food till my last breathe, Mom's are amazing cooks and
all.. ya ya ya.. But the chef in the hat... *kisses your head* He is the
Man!! This is a serious Food nazi speaking here and you better eat well and
recommend good places to good people.. ;) bad places can be recommended to your
bosses's and your ex'es :) Till we meet next time.. Happy hogging! Happy
exploring :D
