Happy just another day to you!

15th august is a date where the entire country with a  population of a billion people will unite and respect the soldiers who’re on the border protecting us, and the generous hearted news channels and production houses will send a few Mika’s and Deepika Padukone’s to spend time and thank them for everything they do for us. Isn't it absolutely preposterous  how we watch all this on television and cry in awe and finally switch off the channel with a content heart which believes the soldier has probably had the best day of his life after meeting a few celeb’s on a day when he should be at home with his family whom he is allowed to meet only twice a year. FYI the only person who deserves a National holiday today is the soldier himself.

Why is the soldier the hero of this blog here? Why shouldn't he be the hero of anywhere! I am guilty myself for the fact that i too remembered his soul today and not any other, because today like others, i too am suddenly patriotic and wish to depict love for my country irrespective of how many flaws it has and how much i would love to live in a cleaner city. But leaving my issue’s aside, to the government i have some queries! When you go on a vacation with your family for a month leaving the country in the already existing deep shit that it is in, why don’t you allow those troop of soldiers to enjoy a vacation with theirs? Because you are too chicken enough to protect the country yourself? Too scared we might get attacked by some alien country? Aren’t we already attacked by your barbarousness? Don’t they deserve a pay cheque more than what you manage to earn by sticking your hand under the table? Don’t they deserve a home where their family is safe and not busy fixing the leak on the roof? Don’t their kids deserve more privileges apart from just a 2% reservation in colleges?

All these are questions will remain unanswered, and nobody bothers, nor shall i, we all will “move on” and worry about what to wear tomorrow. This independence day, be human more than independent, what independence are you celebrating anyway? Independence of raping a woman in broad daylight? Independence of getting your 12 year kid married? Independence of openly bribing the pandu and getting out of wearing a helmet which by the way is a law made to protect you, not to earn bucks you know? Of course you are independent in many ways, but take a moment to yourself and think about the people who actually deserve to celebrate this day. Hoisting a flag is just one of the ways to show some respect to your country, there are a million other ways in which you could contribute to your country's growth. How about starting by changing yourself?

Simple changes can bring tremendous growth. Not everyday is a Gandhi born, not everyday is an Anna going to fast for you. What happens everyday is a thousand kids die of hunger, a million strays are killed because they are considered nuisance to the society, a thousand senior citizens are thrown out of their houses to live on streets by kids who they still call kids. I do not wish to tell how can you stop all this, because that is up to you how you wish to contribute to this "desperately in need of help" society. But what you need to know is what others think don't matter, what you think does. It doesn’t matter if people laugh or stare when you pick up a dropped litter. You just made your city 0.001% cleaner, which is just the beginning of something good.

Today, 100’s of flags will be fallen on the streets, Hundreds of people will disrespect the national anthem by not standing up for the ceremony, hundreds of kids will sleep with an empty stomach, another 10 soldiers will die whilst on their duty. Kasab enjoyed his independence here yesterday. HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY TO YOU TOO.
